The students estimated how many “frogs” (meaning the Frog Jump Units of Measure) they thought they could jump. They then recorded their estimate on their Frog Jump Recording Sheet. Dr. Davis then
placed a frog jumping line up on the floor and showed the students the starting point.

The students then took turns jumping and
a student marked where they landed.

The 1st graders at MCPS are studying measurement. They have been measuring things around the room using nonstandard units such as unifix cubes. One fun activity they did was Frog Jump.
