At MCPS, Our Students Will SOAR!

To SOAR means: Staying Safe, Owning Our Actions, Acting Kindly, and being Ready to Learn.
Today, our students participated in a special Meet & Greet session with Principal Erica Jones and Assistant Principal Laticia Silas. During this time, students learned about our school, classroom, and behavioral expectations, setting the stage for a successful and positive year.
The admin team and students engaged in meaningful conversations about what it looks like to SOAR together at MCPS. They explored our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system, including exciting celebrations, the use of SOAR Bucks, examples of positive and negative behaviors, and how good choices will be recognized and rewarded throughout the year.
Students also discussed what it takes to maintain a safe and positive learning environment for everyone, from showing respect and kindness to taking responsibility for their actions. By working together, we can ensure MCPS remains a place where every student feels valued, supported, and ready to learn.
With clear expectations, positive encouragement, and a shared commitment to excellence, we know this will be a year where our students truly SOAR to success!
