MCPS Activities

In this gifted project, students chose a book on their Lexile (reading) level. Then, the students read the books on their own and next, they prepared a poster-sized report outlining the book's important information, a summary, a list of grade-appropriate literary elements, and an illustration of a scene out of the book. Finally, the students presented their book and poster to the entire school one grade at a time. Parents were invited to join their students during their special presentation.

Faculty and staff enjoyed a Wild West themed week of festivities! There were trivia games, photo ops, dance-offs, and line-dance instruction. Plus loads and loads of food!
Monday-Trail Mix and Treats (plus the District Office sent cookies that morning)
Tuesday-"Nacho" Average Rodeo
Wednesday-Fish Fry and Trail Ride (a faculty and staff dance party)
Thursday-Saddle Up for Sweets
Friday-Howdy, Hotdogs with all the fixins

We are so excited here at Mitchell County Primary School! Our Parent Resource Room is now available and welcoming parents! We are looking forward to the parent partnership to help instill a love of reading and books, as our Lending Library grows inside our resource room.

We have a wide variety of resources that will help bridge skills learned at school to those being taught at home. It’s our goal to help support student learning as much as possible. Our resource room also contains a collection of books and brochures on school-related issues and parent topics. We are strongly encouraging parents, grandparents, stepparents, and caregivers to come spend time in our resource room.

All resources are available for check out or can be used in the room. Our resource room is located in the Guidance Suite. See you there soon!

Primary students received their TCM Summer Backpacks on May 18. Within the backpacks, students have resources and books correlated to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Parents, please encourage your children to continue to read and to develop a love for reading over the summer!

Mitchell County Primary School held their End of Year Celebration Luncheon and Retiree recognition yesterday for all faculty and staff. Mrs. Eboni Rivera was joined by her family and received recognition as the MCPS Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. Ms. Alfredia Harris was recognized and honored by Principal Donna Johnson and Principal Rodney Conine for her 30 years of service!
