Jump Rope for Heart at MCPS

Students at Mitchell County Primary School participated in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, March 1. It is an annual event that raises money for the American Heart Association. The event was held for grades K-1 in the gym. The students were eager to raise money to help save a life.

MCPS Students Visit Thronateeska Heritage Center

In culmination of their study on planets, Pre-K and three year-old students visited Thronateeska Heritage Center in Albany on February 20. They viewed a film on the solar system and toured the Science Museum. The students explored hands-on exhibits and learned about not only the solar system but about other topics such as weather and dinosaurs.

What’s Love Got to Do with It?

February is the month of love. Traditionally, we show our affections with chocolate, stuffed animals, and cards. Let’s go outside the norms this month and show our students how much we love them with education. What does love have to do with it? Everything! Love motivates.

MCPS Book Fair

MCPS Book Fair will be held February 26-March 2, 2018. Parents, students and community come out between 9-3 each day and select your favorite book items, pencils, and bookmarks.

MCSS's Schools Closed for Students on January 3

The Mitchell County School System (MCSS)/Baconton Community Charter School (BCCS) will be closed on Wednesday, January 3rd due to inclement weather conditions. MCSS faculty and staff will report to school at 9:00 am; BCCS will be closed for everyone. School will resume on Thursday, January 4th at the regular time.

MCPS Counselor’s Corner November 2017

On October 2, 2017, Mitchell County Primary School’s faculty staff and students wore blue to support Blue Shirt Day-World Day of Bullying Prevention. We wore pink on October 13, 2017, to support the fight against breast cancer. On October 25, 2017, the faculty, staff, and students wore orange to show that we stand united in the fight against bullying. ......
